The important part

Backlight has no account and no server. Every game, save, and setting lives only on your device — there is nothing about you stored anywhere for us to delete. You are always in control, and you can remove any or all of it yourself in the app.

What Backlight stores on your device

  • The .gba game files you imported.
  • Battery saves and save states (and their thumbnails).
  • Screenshots you captured.
  • Cheats, per-game settings, playtime, and app settings.
  • The box-art cache, if you turned on cover-art downloads.

How to delete it

  1. Remove one game. In your library, open a game's menu and choose Remove. You'll be asked whether to also delete that game's battery save. To also clear that game's save states and screenshots, use the category or uninstall steps below.
  2. Delete by category. Go to Settings → Storage. From there you can Delete all save states, Delete screenshots, and Clear the box-art cache. Each action asks you to confirm first.
  3. Delete everything — uninstall. Uninstalling Backlight removes the app's entire private storage on both iOS and Android — all games, saves, save states, screenshots, cheats and settings go with it. Device backups are disabled for this data, so nothing is retained elsewhere.

Do you need to send us a deletion request?

No. Because Backlight collects no personal data and stores nothing about you on a server, there is nothing on our side to request the deletion of. The steps above put you fully in control of the data on your device. If you have a question about this, email emma@savvylabs.co.uk.
